Nissan Bids the Crowd Favorite Rogue Sport a Farewell Next Year

A subcompact SUV designed to cater to young buyers, the Nissan Rogue Sport first made its debut in the U.S market in 2017. The vehicle came along with a message from Nissan that it would positively impact the brand’s conquest sales, which it was able to do. The Nissan Rogue Sport, however, will be parting from the company for the coming 2023 sales year. A Nissan spokesperson confirmed this to Car and Driver, saying, “As part of our Nissan NEXT plan, which is focused on prioritizing our core models and segments that bring the most benefit to customers, production of Rogue Sport for the U.S. will end after the 2022 model year.” 

The 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport’s current starting price of $26,255 (Plus Destination Fee) offers the standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 driver assistance tech. It can also be purchased with the available ProPilot Assist. In a dealer memo, the Nissan brand also mentioned that the 2022 model year Rogue Sport will continue to be sold until inventory sells out sometime in early 2023. The company also promised fans to continue making replacement parts and other support for the Rogue Sport, providing them until 2033.

The Nissan Rogue Sport is theU.S version of the Nissan Qashqai from Europe, so long-time fans expected the brand to use the Qashqai as a base for a completely refreshed and redesigned Rogue Sport for the coming 2023 model year. However, in the memo to dealers written by Nissan’s V.P Scott Shirley and published by Automotive News, it was said that the production of the Rogue Sport would be ending sometime in December. This is because Nissan wants to focus more on higher-volume models as well as electric vehicles being produced. Shirley went on to say that “With the all-new Rogue and recently redesigned Kicks, we will continue to cover this part of [the] market effectively. We are also able to invest more resources in our current vehicle life cycles and next-generation products.”

Long-time enthusiasts of the Nissan Rogue Sport can still purchase their favorite vehicle for the 2022 model year while supplies last as the Nissan company prepares to bid the Nissan Rogue sport a very special farewell.
