After decades of incredible trims and vehicles, Nissan has announced that the company plans to retire everyone’s favorite sedan in mid-2023. With that news, a proper farewell might be due to send off a genuinely iconic generation of vehicles that Nissan has produced over the last few decades. Nissan has given drivers a remarkable four decades full of eight generations of the Nissan Maxima. Each generation has captivated the world for many years, and Nissan has always done its best to showcase the incredible features it possesses, along with the future it will have.
Maximas have truly evolved over the years, from the sporty sedans with V6 engines mated with available manual transmissions to the Maxima models of the present day that are even more powerful. The Maxima has also been adorned with many awards and recognitions over the years, like being a three-time 10 Best winner for Car and Driver and even made the publication’s front cover on their June 1994 issue. The current edition of the Maxima was even their top-ranked sedan for quite some time.
Nissan has made an official statement that the company will prioritize electric vehicles and mentioned that fans of the company and car enthusiasts should stay tuned for news on the Nissan Maxima. This might be a glimpse of hope that the Nissan Maxima might have one more vehicle on the way for the 2023 model year or that the Maxima name might be worn by the upcoming Nissan EV sedan that is said to arrive for the 2025 model year. This EV will be built in Mississippi alongside an Infiniti sedan (with teasers that show a futuristic face resembling the Ariya crossover, along with a curved roofline).
The future of a possible Nissan Maxima EV might be uncertain; however, news should come within the next few years. The present 2022 Nissan Maxima is available in three trims, the base SV ($37,840 Plus Destination Fee), the SR ($43,000 Plus Destination Fee), and the Platinum ($43,150 Plus Destination Fee). For now, buyers can enjoy the available trims and model years of the Nissan Maxima before it officially is retired in 2023.
