QUIETNESS

Because of features like acoustic glass in the windshield and front door windows, strategically placed door seals, and isolation material throughout the cabin, Rogue provides a quiet, calm experience that makes it easy to talk with passengers and hear your music. You’ll see how quiet it is on the road, too, once we start driving.

Key Rogue Features

  • Acoustic glass for windshield (all grades) and front door windows (SV and above)
  • Door seals
  • Isolation material throughout the cabin (doors, headliner, pillar trim, cargo floor)

Compare Rogue and RAV4

Rogue:

  • Absence of surrounding noise from traffic, other people, construction, etc.
  • Absence of road noise and engine noise
  • Engine noise sounds far away/quiet, and the sounds that are heard are pleasing and powerful
  • Wind noise that can be heard is a gentle sound over the entire body, with no localized noise source

RAV4:

  • RAV4 does not have acoustic front door
  • Noticeable road and engine noise even at low speed on good roads
  • Loud engine noise during acceleration, which can contribute to driver stress under higher-demand acceleration scenarios
  • Road and engine noise while cruising

ACCELERATION

If you need a burst of speed while driving in the city, Rogue’s 181-hp engine and Xtronic CVT with D-step tuning give you responsive acceleration and a quick, smooth shift.

2021-nissan-rogue-blue

Key Rogue Features

  • 181-hp engine with 181 lb-ft of torque
  • Xtronic CVT® with D-step tuning

Compare Rogue and RAV4

Rogue:

  • Response always well-matched to demand
  • Small pedal input yields gentle acceleration
  • Large pedal input yields immediate, crisp downshift and strong acceleration

RAV4:

  • Transmission feels “busy” trying to find the correct gear

ROUGH ROAD

When driving at 40 mph on a typical city road with patches, cracks, potholes, etc. Rogue is nice and smooth on the road. It has Active Ride Control, which applies brake pressure momentarily to cancel the bounce motion caused by large road surface bumps. So you get improved body control without sacrificing ride comfort. RAV4 doesn’t have this feature.

Key Rogue Features

  • Structural rigidity
  • Double-piston shock absorbers
  • Active Ride Control (ARC)

Compare Rogue and RAV4

Rogue:

  • Absence of noise and vibration when encountering patches or potholes

RAV4:

  • Louder-impact noise and vibration felt through the floor, and low-frequency booming noise at impact
  • The noise is slow to disappear, making the body structure feel less

Rogue’s Key Dynamic Features

Below are some of Rogue’s key features that contribute to its strong dynamic performance. You’ll really experience the advantages of these features with your test drive.

2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine with 181 hp @ 6000 rpm and 181 lb-ft of torque @ 3600 rpm

Double overhead cam, 16-valve design enhances performance and engine efficiency by providing direct actuation of intake and exhaust valves.

• The low overall mass of the engine helps enhance fuel efficiency and helps reduce emissions while providing excellent power.

• Note the power of the engine when accelerating from a stop.

Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)

Continuously variable transmission provides smooth acceleration and quiet operation.

• The use of a high-strength steel belt or chain that operates between two continuously adjustable pulleys allows the engine to operate in the optimum power range for a variety of driving conditions.

• The transmission selects a ratio for every driving situation, continuously changing the ratio as necessary.

• During rapid acceleration, D-step tuning simulates shifts at higher rpm, providing stepped acceleration with a linear acceleration feel.

• At cruising speed, D-step tuning allows the transmission to immediately change ratios, providing quick acceleration in situations such as passing another vehicle.

• Adaptive Ratio Control varies transmission response depending upon the driving situation and road conditions.

Drive Mode Selector

The drive mode selector allows drivers to adjust the vehicle’s performance behavior to suit their desired driving preference.

• Standard mode is for everyday driving conditions.

• Eco mode optimizes throttle sensitivity and transmission points to encourage greater fuel efficiency.

• Sport mode allows for more aggressive acceleration by increasing throttle sensitivity and providing simulated shift points.

• Snow mode (AWD models only) controls 4WD power output and engine characteristics for driving on slippery surfaces.

• Off-road mode (AWD models only) is for easier driving or starting on uneven dirt roads, steep uphill slopes, or through sand.

Independent strut front suspension

Front wheels react independently to changes in the road surface, helping to provide a smoother ride, improved driver control, and optimum traction.

• Offset springs absorb and deflect the loads caused by driving on rough surfaces.

• Rebound springs inside the shock absorbers help reduce body lean when cornering.

• Shock absorbers with twin internal flow tubes and dual flow path valves help maintain ride comfort over varying road surfaces.

Independent multi-link rear suspension

Rear wheels react independently to changes in the road surface, helping to provide a smoother ride and optimum traction.

• Multiple suspension links between the wheels and chassis enhance control of wheel movement, combining excellent handling with a smooth and comfortable ride.

• Rebound springs inside the shock absorbers help reduce body lean when cornering.

• Double-piston shock absorbers provide high damping force when experiencing low frequency vibrations to create a flat ride, and low damping force when experiencing high frequency vibrations to create a smooth ride.

Dual-Pinion Electric Power Steering (DP-EPS)

With dual-pinion electric power steering, the motor is mounted to the rack and pinion for improved steering feedback and quieter operation.

• Power assist varies based on vehicle speed to adjust steering effort and road feel for various driving conditions.

Intelligent Trace Control (I-TC)

Intelligent Trace Control5 helps enhance steering response and cornering feel by using the Vehicle Dynamic Control6 system to selectively apply brake pressure.

• When cornering, the system helps enhance the transition from braking to accelerating by applying brake pressure to increase the load on the front wheels.

• In side-to-side turns and other steering maneuvers, it engages the brakes on one side of the vehicle to help turn the vehicle.

Active Ride Control

The system applies brake pressure momentarily to cancel the bounce motion caused by large road surface bumps, providing improved body control without sacrificing ride comfort.

Rigid body structure

A rigid body structure helps provide handling performance, ride quality, durability, and crash protection while also reducing noise and vibration.

• The combination of high-strength reinforcements and advanced manufacturing techniques increases rigidity.

• Weld-bonding (structural adhesive) is used around all door openings, inner fenders, and other major body panels.

• An isolated cradle frame for the engine and front suspension increases the stiffness of the engine compartment and helps manage crash protection.

Advanced sound-insulation materials

Sound-deadening materials are bonded to the carpeting and throughout the body panels, providing a quieter ride.
